Stella Orientis Choir

One of the things that keep me busy on the weekends is my involvement in the Stella Orientis Choir. Our choir is based in the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. We have practices every Saturday mornings and sing various liturgical songs. Our preferences are Latin songs, Italian, Spanish songs, Gregorian chants, a few Jesuit songs, and of course songs arranged and composed by Ferdz M. Bautista of the University of Sto. Tomas. Ferdz is our Oratory organist, a master of playing pipe organs and digital pipe organs.

We are an all female choir. Yes, due to lack of arrangements for all-female choirs, our members willingly learn and try to sound like tenors and basses. I’m a soprano and the section head.

You can also hire us to sing for Weddings (the last we had was just last April 24 at San Agustin Church in Intramuros) and other liturgical events. Proceeds will go to our fundraising efforts to attend the World Youth Day in Madrid next year, 2011. Just leave a comment below if you are interested. 🙂

Here are some songs that we sang for our last major gig at Sancta Maria, Stella Orientis Oratory for the Easter Triduum:

1) Hallelujah Chorus by Handel

2) Anima Christi by Ferdz M. Bautista

Hi. I work at University of Asia and the Pacific (SED- School of Education and Human Development). We are going to have our wedding on May 8, 2012. We have a list of songs for the ceremony that needs approval. Since you have experience with singing in weddings, is it possible that I send the list to you and you sort of approve if these are liturgical and okay for the ceremony?

And by the way, how much do you charge for an invitation to sing for a wedding. Kindly send me an e-mail at honeylet.bello@uap.asia.

    Thanks! 🙂
